The Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de los Dolores Church was erected in 1722 over the ruins of the former Ermita de Santa Ana Shrine which, build in the 17th century, was the victim of earthquakes and pirates’ attacks.
In 1970, there was a fire after which the church was completely destroyed being abandoned for 10 years. Then, the ruins of the building were donated to the Local Government and, after a serious remodelling, it became a site of concerts and headquarters of the Sinfónica Oriente Symphony Orchestra.
