Crossroads and traffic lights are common spots where to get a ride. In the regional capitals, and outside La Havana, the “amarillos” (traffic controllers) help to organize hitchhiking and help those who need it most. The cost of the rides depends very much on the distance travelled, and averages between 5 and 20 CUC.
