The Biblioteca Provincial de Guantánamo “José Policarpo Pineda Rustán” Library, located in the capital of the province, works as public library since 1972, and is established as center of the library’s network advicing another ones located in different cities.
The current building of the Library, work by the architect Salines, worked from 1934 to 1951 as Royal City Hall of Guantánamo; an it was in this same place where there are celebrated the trials against the henchmen of Fulgencio Batista in 1959.
