The National Museum of Decorative Arts is hosted in an interesting construction in the district of Vedado, Havana. If you are on your way by Vedado and have free time it is worth to visit this museum, or at least to see the building itself.

The construction was designed by the French architects Virad and Dastugue, surrounded by beautiful gardens with sculptures.

Among the items on its stores and the ones being exhibited on its exhibition rooms, this museum has more than 33,000 high artistic and historic value works from the reigns of artístico e histórico que pertenecen a los reinados de Louis XV, Louis XVI and Napoleón II, as well as some oriental pieces dating from the 16th to the 21st centuries.

In the ground floor of the museum you will find an adorned lobby with the first models of the furniture collection housed in the museum, being the entrance hall to the main hall, in Rococo style with walls covered with boiseries, and a furniture showing the evolution of three relevant styles in the 18th century (Regency, Rococo and Transition). It also has a Oriental Lacquer Hall, with Chinese parabanes from the 17th to the 21st century; and a living-dining in Regency style and Italian marble.

The ground floor has eight more halls: the Salón Neoclásico Hall, the Salón Sèvres Hall, exhibiting pieces from the Royal Factory of Sèvres; a Salón Boudoir Segundo Imperio Hall, decorated in the style use during the French period (1852-1871); the Salón Inglés Hall; another Oriental Hall, a Main Toilet in Art Dèco; a Salón Ecléctico Hall, exhibiting pieces in different styles and countries; and an Art Noveau-Art Dèco Hall

This museum offers several facilities with guided tours and specialized tours, featuring also a library with cultural activities.
